Fall in Upstate New York really is the best time of the year. I had to go out and do errands this morning and even on a somewhat cloudy day, the leaves are just gorgeous. This is the street view in front of the property...
And then coming up the driveway...
Meanwhile, Jim spent most of his day under the hood of my car...
Everything is very tightly arranged in the engine compartment, and nothing is real easy to access. He had to take off the exhaust assembly from the engine to get at the water pump. Three bolts came off reasonably well but the fourth gave him lots of grief. There was a cross member right underneath the bolt so he couldn't reach it well. He thought he was going to have to get the torch and cut it off, but he finally got it...
He spent a little time with the purlins in the shop after working on the car, measuring for the cuts that will intersect with the saddle cuts on the rafter...
He was hoping to be able to cut these in the shop and he got the first one cut..
The test piece fits perfect - and Jim's pondering the next step, which is to make a whole lot more of these cuts!
