Jim measured and cut the plywood this morning to make the last deck for the other bench...

Sanding it...

In the afternoon, we headed outside.  This is the first time Mom has been out of the house since last Monday's trip to the foot doctor.  These shoes she has to wear just make walking a bit unsafe, but we got her down the stairs and then drove her down to the bottom of the driveway in the car and got her set up in her chair.

Jim first brought the Bobcat down with all the tools he would need in the bucket, then walked up the hill and brought the excavator down.  It started right up!

We need to get the old concrete post out of the hole so we can pour a new one, so he used the thumb on the excavator to grab hold of it...

And then lift it out of the hole...

He laid it down to the side...

The plan is to extend the rock wall up to where the repaired package box will go, so that the rocks will be what someone will hit first rather than the box!    Jim used the excavator bucket to start making a small trench...

Scooping the extra dirt into the bucket.  You can see this dirt is black and rich - Jim is going to take it back up the hill to use.

The old post would have to be gotten rid of somehow, but it will make an excellent base for our rock wall and no one but us (and you readers!) will know!

Scooting it into the trench...

The hole itself is in great shape...

Jim did a little crumbing around the edges...

Then used the post hole digger to clean up the hole...

We did find this old No Trespassing sign when Jim was digging in the wall area...

Smoothing out some of the dirt...

High 79.3/Low 42.6 - beautiful!
