5.23.2023

Jim brought up the seat bench deck this morning and we tried out both the 3" and 2" thicknesses.  This is such nice, dense foam that we decided the 2" was more than enough.  Jim will order the 2" for the bench as well as the pieces for the other bench.  Then he took the deck and foam back into the shop and used the special spray adhesive to attach the foam...

He then cut the edges all around so that it was the exact size of the deck.  Next is the batting that helps to take away the sharp edges of the foam...

He cut and glued that onto the foam pieces just up to the deck...

It was really nice outside so we decided to go up the hill to our rebar stash and cut pieces that Jim will use to make the cage for a new package drop box post.  He brought up his concrete saw - it started right away and he got the pieces cut...

We'll need the excavator to hopefully pull the existing concrete pole out of the hole, so Jim brought out the battery that was stored for the winter.  We uncovered the excavator and Jim reinstalled the battery...

The excavator has always been a workhorse and it started right away.  However, it kept stalling out.  Not good news.

We did find evidence of mice homes - even inside the sealed air filter...ugh.

Jim thinks it's a fuel problem, so he did some quick investigation.  He's looking at the maintenance manual as I write this to see what his next steps are.  Sometimes, if it's not one thing, it's another.

Jim got all the equipment and tools put away, and then headed into Lowe's.  He picked up the other sheet of plywood he needs for a deck for the other bench as well as some bags of concrete.

High 76.2/Low 43.2
