Jim took off early this morning to make the rounds - first he picked up the trailer. You can see a glimpse here of how foggy it was this morning! After picking up the trailer, he had to go to the rental place to pick up the auger.
Once he got home, he had to use the forks on the Bobcat to get the auger off the trailer and then get it attached to the Bobcat. He took it down to the end of the driveway to dig a hole for our new package box...
Starting to dig...
There is so much top soil in this area - years of run off from the top of the hill - so this hole was easy digging and he encountered no rocks. Measuring to see how deep it is...
Doing a little clean up...
Covered and ready for concrete!
He took all the equipment up to the pavilion area and after lunch we started marking off the area. First we found the center of the driveway and used that line as our reference...
Starting to lay out the dimensions...
Putting stakes in to mark where the posts will go...
Marking all the areas with paint...
Starting to dig the first hole in the back...
Moving onto the next spot...
The three holes are dug in the back - moving on to the front...
Doing the hand work to clean up the hole...
This last hole was the only time Jim had to get out his post hole digger to remove a rock - the rest went very smoothly...
Jim took the Bobcat down and brought up the power sprayer to clean off the auger...
Putting the equipment back on the pallet...
Loading the pallet back on the trailer...
Mom and I went with Jim on the circuit to return the auger and the trailer. It was a beautiful ride - we went along the Hudson River, the sun was shining, and the leaves were just gorgeous. Of course, we're pretty partial to the view from Angel! This was looking into the woods below the pavilion...
So...a very busy day but mission accomplished! Jim even did some trimming around the house once we got home - he uses every minute!
