We were awakened at 2:00 this morning with what sounded like a pack of coyotes right outside our window! We can hear them sometimes in the woods but these sounded really close.
Now that all our post holes are dug, today was concrete day! Jim spent all morning getting prepared - tools and equipment ready and final crumbing of holes...
Then it was time to make the concrete...
Dumping it into the box...
Making another 3-bag batch...
Then Jim had to put the forks back on the Bobcat and drive the box of concrete down the hill...
He left the concrete at the bottom and then put the bucket back on with all his tools and equipment inside and brought it down as well...
Filling up the hole for the package drop box...
This hole needed to be filled up all the way to the top and then Jim added his rebar cage that he had made...
Measuring it for the right depth...
Using some straight pieces of rebar and ties to make sure everything stays in place...
Using the portable generator, Jim plugged in the concrete vibrator to make sure there were no voids...
Then it was a reversal of all of those steps, bringing the box of concrete back up the hill. There was enough concrete left to fill one hole - these only need about 12" of concrete in the bottom.
Time to make more concrete...
And fill more holes...
Mixing the last bag of concrete - it took 11 bags to get all the holes filled!
Filling up the last hole...
Then all the cleanup ensued...
And the putting away of all the equipment...
Putting some covers over the holes...
It was a perfect fall day - and can't beat the colors on Angel!
