It might be International Goof Off Day but it was anything but that around here - today was all about getting ready for the countertop installation tomorrow!
But first, Jim spent time cleaning in the shop, getting out the shop vac to try and get rid of all the Corian shavings - the shop looks amazing!
It's going to be challenging to get the countertop up the stairs - thank goodness Jim made the railings so that he can easily remove them when necessary.
No more railings!
I removed everything underneath the sink and then it was time to take apart the sink plumbing...
Everything is disconnected and out comes the sink...
Then the countertop is off! Both this sink and the plywood countertop served us well for all this time but I will admit that I'm so excited for the new one!
Jim moved the dishwasher out of the way and started installing the countertop blocking...
He also attached the decorative spacer piece next to the dishwasher...
I took out all the Depression glass from the hutch and then we moved the hutch into the office...
Jim cut a piece of wood the same length of the countertop just to see how it will fit around the stairs...
and around the corners in the house...
Because of the extremely tight fit for the countertop, Jim wanted to try and protect the walls as much as possible, so he taped some Formica scraps onto the wall...
More Formica in this corner...
We moved the secretary desk near the door and tomorrow we'll take down the wall frame just so that there are no accidents or worries...
Things are about as ready as possible. Jim had a little time left and started unwrapping the car lift. Another scary challenge in our future!
