Jim worked more on the furnace mount this morning. The furnace had come shipped with the upper mounting bracket attached to the pallet, so Jim had to take that apart. With some of the parts he ordered from Lowe's yesterday, he was able to get it attached. The two of us tried to see if we could lift it - we moved it into the utility room ourselves - but I knew I wouldn't be strong enough to lift it, then turn it upright and get it high enough to clip onto this mounting bracket. So Jim will have to find another man to help him.
He moved up more boxes of flooring upstairs. Then he got pieces of drywall cut (not attached yet) for the front wall of the stairwell.
Then we got the next piece of drywall ready for the back wall. Jim first cut the top piece off and got it mounted, then moved the main piece over.
All up into place and cutting out the receptacle...
Looks amazing! Thankfully, those are the last two pieces of drywall that have to be put up while working on and around the woodpile!
A big chunk of our afternoon was spent up in the attic. In order to be able to work on the ceiling in the master bedroom, we were going to have to move all the boxes we've been bringing from the apartment up into the attic. But first, Jim had some insulation work he wanted to finish up above the kitchen area. Even though these ceiling were already insulated, Jim wanted to put down some extra and make sure all the voids were filled.
Continuing to add a layer of insulation...
Then the real fun began. Jim was on the extension ladder leading to the little access area in the master bedroom. I would hand him a box and he would walk up the ladder and put it in the attic. And then repeat over and over and over. Then he would get up in the attic and organize things. We're using this area to basically store all my dishes. And, yes, I probably have too many but I enjoy all of them! This project took quite awhile and Jim said it was definitely a workout by the time we were done - boxes of dishes are very heavy! Plus, he probably smacked his head on steel rafters a half dozen times because as you can see, you have to crawl on your hands and knees up here!
Jim ended the day doing some second coat plastering in the bedroom.
