12.15.2017

It was frigid overnight - right around zero or below.  So of course we were very worried about how the carriage house temperatures would be.  Jim said he feels confident after being there all day but then when you hear how frigid it is, you can't help but worry.  But when he got there, the temperatures were still in the low to mid 40s in both areas.  What a huge relief!

I got to see all of Jim's accomplishments yesterday - amazing!  Today, he wired in the new light socket and then put all the receptacles back together on this wall of the utility room.

Today he did a lot more insulation in the morning - he stuffed all around the door and then put up the first piece of insulation on this side.

In the wood shop, he did a lot of insulation - all around the outside of the bathroom!

And the inside!  Plus he did more stuffing of the blocking around the outside walls of the wood shop.
He's counting the days (hours!) until he can say he's done with insulation!

Mid-afternoon, we switched to drywall.  In the utility room, Jim had to first take apart the switch box and light.

Then we got the piece marked, cut and brought inside, where Jim made the initial cuts in the boxes.

All up, holes cut and Jim is fastening...

Time to use the Rotozip to cut the door opening...

All done!  I went out while Jim was finishing the screws on this piece and got more diesel fuel - you can see Jim filling up the heater in the background.

Light and switch box put back together.

Next, we moved upstairs to the wood shop.  These pieces are really tough because they have to fit around all the plumbing.  Jim had to cut a bigger section of the top and put it up first...

Then he slid the rest of the piece behind the plumbing...

and into place.  Doing all the screws...

After he got that piece all fastened down, Jim got the next piece marked and cut.  This will be a complicated piece.  Besides an outlet and 2 switch boxes to cut out, there is conduit to go around at the top.  That will be on tomorrow's agenda.
