Jim started out his day by picking up his steel order. He was hoping to get some shorter stud pieces in the boneyard but they turned out to be track pieces, not studs. He was counting on those to use in some of our smaller wall areas so he'll have to put in another steel order soon.
But he got it all unloaded and set up in the downstairs shop. He's already used quite a few pieces today.
In fact, he built this front wall in the laundry room before I went out this afternoon.
He also finished the header over the bathroom door...
Now that he has some studs, he can fill in some of the areas in the walls. This is the wall between the laundry room and the kitchen.
Attaching the studs...
Next he made this mounting plate that to fit in between the two studs by the laundry room door. We plan to put a barn door in this area (so fun!) so Jim needs to make this area stronger to be able to hold up the door.
Then he attached a small stud to the top wall frame and the mounting plate...
Then he was able to put the top of the door frame on.
I'll need to get some more pictures tomorrow, but Jim also worked a bit on the front bathroom wall. In order to put the light switch box where we want it, Jim had to put another stud in the wall. Of course, since everything was already in place, he had to remove one stud in order to get another one in place. Then he mounted the box.
We spent time today deciding on how we wanted the switches to work in the bathroom - do you want a fan with a light? without a light? the fan to turn on when you turn on the vanity light? where should the fan be placed? is the vanity light enough? Whew. And that's just the bathroom!
Jim knocked off a few minutes early and took a run into Lowe's. He needed more electric supplies to continue on!
