1.12.2017

Even though his rep is somewhere on the beaches of the Bahamas, Jim headed out to pick up his steel this morning.  He found a few things in their boneyard and discard pile that he was able to use, although he had to do some negotiations with this other guy.  Jim will be glad when Mike gets back!

The warmer temps caused it to be a very foggy day...Jim sent me these pictures on the way back from getting the steel.  This is the road in front of our property...

And the carriage house is all fogged in!

All the steel unloaded...

The warmer temps also made for an extremely slippery driveway.  In fact, the plan was for me to bring lunch out to Jim but he came home for lunch so that I didn't have to drive.  It was slippery enough that he didn't want me to come out later - just no sense taking extra risks.

But he got lots done and I'm so excited to see it in person tomorrow!  With his new steel, he started working on the front of the closet wall in the second bedroom.  This whole area is a bit more difficult with the different ceiling heights so getting all this done was a great accomplishment.  He got the walls made, the door header done, and even the track around the doorframe.

This picture shows some of the details - the stud connecting to the track and blocking at the top of the wall where the ceiling changes heights.

This is the view from inside the bedroom looking out towards the kitchen.  This is going to be a great closet space!

At lunch, we had made plans to go to Lowe's this evening.  The shower base and doors that we ordered online are available for pick up at the store.  Plus we wanted to look at lights a bit.  However, Jim called me mid-afternoon and said that the fog was so thick he couldn't even see halfway down the driveway.  So there was no way we wanted to be driving the curvy, hilly mountain road to go to Lowe's.  It was a great decision because when Jim got home, he said that the fog on the way home was the worst he had ever driven through!  He said he couldn't see even a car length in front of him.  The road our property is on is long and curvy and he said it was really dangerous driving.  So glad he's home safe and sound and we are tucked in for the night!

High 48/Low 28 - FOGGY!
