Jim went to Lowe's this morning to pick up the shower door and base.  They both look really nice - in fact, the shower doors are so heavy that Jim had to drive up the other driveway and struggle to get them in the shop doors.  They probably weigh 100 pounds!

The shower base...

Then it was back to steel work - and Jim got the door header for the second bedroom all finished - it really looks amazing how he was able to work it all out with the different ceiling heights.

Finishing fastening the studs to the top of the door header.

Then he moved over to the master bedroom door area.  He had to make and put up this block that he will use to attach the header pieces to.

When Jim put up the track for the ceiling joists along the hallway wall, he wasn't sure how he was going to do the door frames.  It ended up that the track is in the way.  Since obviously taking it down and cutting it is not an option, Plan B involved cutting the flanges off.

No one will ever say that Jim doesn't get his money's worth out of things - check out the difference in these grinding wheels!

All done...

Now the stud fits perfectly next to the track.

Putting up the track for the top of the door....

Starting to fasten it all together...

The end product...the door header is all finished!  Plus Jim got more blocking put in at the side that he will use for attaching the door frame.

This is the view from inside the master bedroom looking out.  Jim also did some framing work on our secret attic door too.

So a good day's accomplishments and Jim was ready to come home and recharge.  However, it wasn't quite that easy.

The temperatures warmed up a bit this afternoon and the sun was out in full force - enough to melt the snow and ice that was on the driveway.  Then the temperatures dropped - so we had a ski slope of ice to try and get down!  I was first - I had issues turning the car around but got down the hill slipping and sliding all the way (doing all the things that Jim told me to do!).  However, when Jim left it was even worse and as he rounded the corner, the car turned around and he ended up with the back in the snow bank.  Thankfully, we managed to get it out and down the hill with no more issues but it was a scary adventure!  We're definitely grateful to be home safe and sound!
