1.11.2017

Today was a warmer day - however, the warmer out seeping into the downstairs shop that is so frigid due to all the insulation made the steel decking material as well as Jim's steel table were all coated in layers of frost.  It's a little hard to tell in this picture - it was actually pretty to see the frost glimmer all over the steel!

It was definitely time for Jim to replace his saw blade that he uses to cut the steel.  The teeth are actually the uncolored steel part - the red is just the blade.  You can see that the teeth are worn below the blade!

We ordered a new one online and it came in today - Jim said cutting steel was so much easier with a good blade!

Jim reworked the end ceiling joist in the second bedroom - this is a difficult area where the ceilings go from one height to another.  He's much happier with this configuration.  He also put blocking up and attached a top track.

He also got two other ceiling joists put up in this room - this was from steel Jim got from the boneyard.  There is one more joist to put up - Jim's latest steel order is supposed to come in this week.

Jim also worked in the master bedroom.  We have decided that we are going to make the attic space accessible through a door in this upper wall area in the master bedroom.  He had to loosen the track for the ceiling joists a bit and put up a piece of track for the studs.  This also allows a flat surface to work on building our attic door.

Time for the studs in this wall...

Attaching the last stud...

Fastening the studs to the track for the ceiling joists...

After that work, it was time for detail work.  Jim made connection pieces to tie the double studs together on the dormer wall in the master bedroom.

He attached angle to the corners for drywall use.

And strapping in the other corner...

Then he attached a box in the ceiling for a light fixture here.
