1.14.2017

I was too chicken to try and face Angel hill today but Jim was brave of course!  Unfortunately, when he went out in the morning he couldn't even get up the hill and had to walk.  Not easy either plus it was bitter cold.  Then he had to walk down to get his car and come home at lunch to warm up.  When he went back after lunch, he was able to get up the hill by getting more of a running start (again - I'd be terrified!) and got down without too much of an issue.

In between all those scary travel issues, he had a great day and got lots figured out.  Jim has been saying that he had no real clue as to how he was going to make the wall in between the second bedroom and the kitchen because of the valley rafters, different ceiling heights, and the differing wall heights.

But today he started working on it...he had to make blocking to go in between two rafters as well as angle on the valley rafter in order to put up track for the wall.  It had to all meld perfectly with the front wall of the closet.  Then making the studs was really difficult - there were so many different angles at the top that getting an accurate plumb measurement and cuts were not easy.

Then Jim had to figure out top wall track for this shorter wall and again make it fit into the valley rafter.  Studs came after that.  This wall will also serve as the back of our banquette in the kitchen.

A better picture of the not-quite finished product!  Jim still has to put up two studs on either side of the valley rafter but it looks amazing - I can't wait to see it in person!
