11.22.2016 - Start of First Apartment Wall!

We were excited to finally find what we hope to be the perfect light for the stairwell ceiling.  The slope of the roof is 12/12 and we couldn't find any recessed light fixtures for that slope.  After lots of research, we finally found one and it came in the mail today.  We also ordered one of the outside light fixtures to see how we like it and if the quality matches the price!

Jim put this mounting plate up between two of the pieces of blocking that he can use to attach the tops of the walls.

This picture is awfully dark but Jim is up on the scaffolding using the lines from the laser level to mark where the top of the wall will hit the mounting board.

Then he used the laser level to mark the spot of the inside edge of the living room wall on the ceiling.

Attaching the bottom tracks to the wood.

Putting up the first wall stud in the apartment!

For the next stud, there was a screw at the bottom that was in the way, so Jim modified the stud a bit.

Making sure the studs are level...

Then Jim attached the top track to his blocking...

Attaching the top track for the other side of the wall.  You can see that the wall will totally enclose the box beam brace.

Another view...

Putting up the end stud...

The start of our first apartment wall!
