11.7.2016

We were excited to get back out to the property today - seems like we've been checking off lots of big blocks lately.

Today's tasks were to finish up details on the front - namely, the freeze board and soffit.  Here Jim is putting screws in after predrilling the first piece of freeze board.

Putting it into place...

While the sun was shining brightly, Jim did all the touchup painting in this area.

Then...drumroll, please!...the scaffolding that was built into the hill is coming down!  This scaffolding has been in place for well over a year!

In fact, it had been in place so long that all the weather and erosion had completely buried the feet!  Jim was able to get them out but I had to get the pick to try and get the wood blocks unburied.

Wow - that made a huge difference!

But Jim had to use that scaffolding to build up another tower to finish the freeze board and soffit.

Putting the next piece of freeze board up...

Then the soffit...

All finishing - Jim is doing touch up painting on this side.

Starting on a few details on the west wall - first, making the edge flashing.  Jim also got the spacer up and the dimensions to make the starter plank.

End-of-the-day picture is taking way too soon now!  The sun really started setting early and the temperatures drop off pretty fast.  Jim moved inside to work for the last hour or so of his day.
