Jim spent time this morning trying to plan out how to do the west wall - that west wall is always an issue!  But going up the side of the roof with the shingles where there is flashing has to be figured out.  He planned out how the shingles would fit and then figured out the angle.  He marked them so he would remember how the pieces went together!  Then all the cuts had to be primed and painted.

Jim also figured out how he wanted to do the trim boards around the window and made the two side pieces for the shop window.

Then it was back to putting up shingles!

Putting up the first trim board around the window...

Lots of caulk for all these joints - we don't want any water or bugs getting in!

Flashing goes next...

The bottom shingle around the window needed to be notched - Jim got out his really old jigsaw and it did the trick.  Because of the dust created when cutting these shingles, you have to be careful which is why the shear is such a necessary tool!

More shingles...

Making good progress...

A view from the bottom!

At the end of the day, Jim just wanted to start working on the bottom of the west wall to see how things would go.  It's tough here - he's got lots of scaffolding to work around and basically has to hang over the side to reach.

Putting up the flashing...

We moved the painting stations outside - this is the last of the first pallet and it's all painted!  Jim brought down another pallet that we'll probably open and start separating pieces tomorrow.

Jim had lots of ups and downs on the scaffolding today when pieces needed to be sheared.  Then they had to be primed quickly too.  But lots of great progress!
