But first...some updates. Here's our new Bobcat all loaded up and ready for its trip from Montana to Upstate New York! The driver is stopping at his home for the holiday weekend so it should show up to us next week some time. It looks so clean - we're excited that it's on its way.
On that same note, we're really excited because the person that called Jim about buying our present Bobcat called again today - and he's coming to look at it tomorrow! That timing would be absolutely perfect so it's really hard not to get hopes up. But fingers crossed!
Back to the reality of building, Jim started his day by going to pick up a couple more pieces of steel track for the overhang. Then he got busy working on more of the structure.
It's just about done underneath - Jim still has to put sheathing up on the very end piece but we're getting close!
After lunch, we got things ready for our very last batch of mortar!!
Today's mortar bag work went much easier because it was all with a fresh batch of mortar, so it wasn't as difficult to place.
Moving down the wall - working on scaffolding now.
Continuing down, working on planks...
Back on scaffolding, working on the very last section!
Two big thumbs up - we are done with all the masonry work on the carriage house!!
Final mortar clean up job...
After we were finished cleaning, it was time to put some tools away and do some clean up of the yard. It's pretty amazing, but these are all of the cut-off pieces that we have remaining after all of that brick work!
We added the last of the bricks left over from our last cube to the pallet.
This was pretty incredible too - Jim originally had the driver put half of the bricks in the staging area near the carriage house and the other half up the hill that we will use for the house. We used all but one of the cubes that was down by the carriage house. So Jim loaded it up on the Bobcat...
We put the extra cube of bricks up with all our others and then put the pallet of cut-offs on top.
We also moved the remaining solid block that we had as well as a stack of old plywood from our staging area and brought it up to the top.
We are thrilled that the masonry is done - onto our next challenge soon...siding!
