Jim had done more grading last night - things are really taking shape! He just wishes he had a little more time to devote to grading and working with the new Bobcat.
He also put up the side wall angle pieces that he cut yesterday. He cut a few more rows and I got them primed and painted.
Then the rest of the afternoon was siding. Jim got more rows done next to the window up to the top. But then he had to figure out how to incorporate flashing, window trim and siding so that nothing would leak - a tough task.
He needed a piece of Hardi plank to use as a starter board. However, it was a little too wide. He went through probably 3 blades on his old jigsaw trying to cut it down. Definitely need to find a tool to help this task go a little smoother.
Jim put the trim board and then flashing on top...
Always lots and lots of caulk....
Then attached the plank.
He did more caulking and even some tape for good measure...
Then a special piece of flashing on top of the plank...
And then shingles - it looks awesome and he was able to work all the way across the window!
I got another batch of siding opened up and then painted to keep a good stash ready. Once Jim gets by all these difficult trim areas, he'll be able to move pretty quickly.
