10.1.2014

Jim started off the morning going to the steelyard to pay the down payment on our big steel order.  He said they were already working on our I-beams in the shop!  After that, he went to talk to the crane company - he needs someone to come unload the truck and then set the I-beams.  So he arranged for someone to come next Friday!

I told Jim that each step seems so crazy - a lot of what we are doing is things we haven't done before.  But steel seems really crazy!  I'm so excited - I can't imagine what the building will look like with the beams sitting on top!

Once he got back to the site, Jim made this little holder for all of our stakes.  It's time to clean up the site!  Jim needs to be able to get the Bobcat in and backfill with gravel inside and the crane will definitely need room!  So I brought all the stakes out and got them out of the way.

Jim used the Bobcat to take all our old plywood behind the shed, out of the way until we need it again.  We'll have to spend some time organizing all those supplies but that can be another day.

Once the inside was clean, Jim brought gravel in and started filling up the ditches!

Looking good!

Then it was back to membrane work.  We were working on the complicated side with two thimbles to work around when a light misty rain started falling.  It only lasted maybe 10 minutes but we didn't want to take any chances that the foam was damp and the membrane wouldn't stick.

So Jim went back to work on gravel and I started taking apart the shoring and bulkhead pieces that were all screwed together.

Before too long, we checked and all the foam was dry so we went back to work on the membrane.  We're on the back wall now and this area steps down so it should go pretty quickly.  We'll get back at it tomorrow!
