10.20.2014

Brr...it was probably the coldest morning so far - it was 28 when I got up!  But it gradually warmed up and ended up being warmer than yesterday - at least until the sun went down!

When I got to the land, Jim had already cut and punched four more pieces - 1 was in place, 2 were up on the other deck, and 1 was still down on the ground.  That was a lot of work for a cold morning.

Jim decided that we needed to spend some time finishing up the utility trench and getting a little backfilling done.

He got a bucketful of dirt and brought the trench up to the right level to continue the electric conduit.

Then he glued the next two pieces on.

Then had to carefully shovel dirt on top, trying to avoid the big rocks near the conduit.

Next, he took the Bobcat up to our big dirt piles and started pushing dirt down, filling up the trench.

All done for now - you can see all the big rocks we had to take out.  Later, Jim had to make 2 trips in the Bobcat taking those rocks down to our ever-growing pile.

We next moved our attention to filling up the footer where all the utilities came out.  So lots of gravel brought up and shoveled into place!

Before we could get too far with the gravel, we had to put up two more sections of dimple board.  Once we got the gravel to the right height, we were able to get another section of drain pipe in for the downspout.

Then more gravel on top.  Now we are ready for the geo fabric and then dirt.  Jim was very disappointed with the fabric we bought at Home Depot so that got returned.  It's forecast to be a rainy week so we have some errands to run if it rains - one of which will be to head to Albany to the place where we got the dimple board because they carry good geo fabric there.

After playing in the dirt, it was time to do some welding.

It's a lot of work for Jim to move these heavy pieces around.

Time for more welding!

It started getting late so we stopped after getting two pieces up and finished.  It's really looking closed in now!
