So much for a day without distraction. The forecast was rain for the afternoon and most of the day tomorrow, so Jim decided it would make sense to get our trench filled in so it didn't collapse and make a mess that we would have to spend time cleaning up.
This involved taking all the sewer pipe that we had put in the trench temporarily out and glued into place.
We made a trip to the plumbing supply store to pick up two more 10' pieces of sewer pipe.
Everything is all glued into place and the water line rolled out near by.
Once that was done and more sand was added, it was time to once again make sure things were at the right slope.
Then Jim added more sand on top and then a layer of dirt.
That brought it up to the level that we needed for the electrical conduit. We had to use the heat gun again to bend the pipe to the right angle...we're getting good at that!
Here's a good picture of the intersection of all the different utility elements...starting with the footer drain at the very bottom (and connecting to the step portion at the very top of the picture), then the black water line, the white sewer line, and the gray electric line. Soon everything will be covered up but it will all be working for us in the future.
Then time to backfill the area. We will have to get more electric conduit to finish that run, but now the trench is in good shape and we won't have to worry about weather.
In the afternoon, it was back to work on the decking. Since Jim had a few pieces all ready to go, he was able to just install them today.
We now have 11 pieces up and totally finished on this section. Jim has one more piece all cut and punched and ready to be put up tomorrow. Then there are only 2 more pieces and this section will be done!
We were very fortunate - it never rained and we got more done that we had anticipated!
