10.21.2014

Rain is forecast for the next few days, but Jim went out this morning to see what he could accomplish.  The lawn mower needs work and he figured he would work on that if nothing else.  He came home from lunch and figured he would be home for the day, but the skies cleared a bit in the afternoon and he headed back out.

When I came out later on, he had gotten a lot done for a rainy day!  As you can see from this picture, he brought in more gravel for the floor to help with the mud issue.  Since he is moving the Bobcat around so much and then it rains, it really gets soft.  So this gravel will make things much better to work on.

Plus, you can see he's cutting more decking in this picture.  He got 4 more pieces all cut and moved on top today!

Plus, this is the 5th one he's lifting up here...so that will complete the pieces for this section.  Sure hope it's nice tomorrow so we can weld them into place!

Jim got an interesting phone call while we were there.  The Nudura rep is supposed to come tomorrow to pick up the alignment system and bring us another roll of waterproofing.  It was him calling because he had talked to a man in our area who is interested in using Nudura in his new home.  So the rep called to ask Jim if it would be alright if he gave this guy Jim's name for him to call and talk to him about the product.  Jim said that would be fine.  Right after that, this guy called.  Turns out he lives right in this town where our apartment is!  They are going to have a house built and have been doing tons of online research into the advantages of insulated concrete forms.  He told Jim that none of the builders around here used it much and so he was really interested in seeing them and talking to someone.  So he and his wife are supposed to stop by maybe this weekend.

That turned into a longer break, but Jim got back to getting the final beam in the exact spot to be ready to start this last section.  Because we've got decking stored on the ground, he couldn't get a ladder close enough to reach the beam.  So...kids, please don't try this at home...he's standing on the Bobcat!  Here he's measuring the distance between the two beams.

Pounding them into place a bit...

...and measuring once again.  I was glad when he was back on solid ground!

As the evening progressed, fog started to set in and it looked so pretty.  Lots of accomplishments for a rainy day!
