Jim had a doctor appointment this morning. We try and schedule as many appointments as possible in the spring/fall so that we don't have to worry about inclement weather. But that means that sometimes it feels like you are always going to the doctor! He got a good report, so it's all worth it.
He put oil and fuel in the new power trowel today. It started up first thing...
He tried it out on the grass a bit, which was tough, but it worked really well...
Then we headed up to the shed area to do more measuring, just to make sure everything is square and the holes are in the right spots...
Everything was good, so the next step was to bring out the surveying equipment to see the depth of each of the holes...
One is just a little bit deep (because of a rock) and four of them were within an inch of each other! He knew one needed a lot of crumbing - this is the one where he hit a bit rock and the auger skipped.
He got it to the perfect depth, but you can see the big rock in the way. He had to dig around and underneath it...
So the holes are officially ready for concrete too! He covered them back up. Now it's just watching the weather and figuring out when to pour. Right now, we're hoping for maybe next Thursday.
Then we went back to some stone wall work. Scooping up some bigger rocks...
Dumping them near the wall...
Using the excavator to move some big ones...
