1.8.2019

We woke up to about 3" of snow this morning so Jim had to plow the driveway.  We also got some sleet in the afternoon so at least he had gotten the snow off before then.  The UPS guy actually got his truck up the driveway today - he stopped just about where Jim is in the Bobcat in the picture below.  Then he walked up the rest of the upper driveway to bring Jim's lights - that's service!

Because of the weather, Jim canceled the building inspector's visit so we'll see how the rest of the week goes.

The rest of the day, Jim spent working on the auto bay garage door conversion.  This is going to be a ton of work and Jim has to figure out ways to do each step along the way - nothing is straight forward.  This is kind of the before picture...

Jim had to make a new header piece to be higher.  However, even this wasn't easy.  The piece of wood that he had for this was warped a bit and took Jim a lot of time and effort to get it straightened and attached in the right place.

The next problem to figure out was how to remove the old track without having the garage door collapse.  Jim came up with some spacers and a board to keep it in place...

Jim kept running into challenges all afternoon so this is definitely a work in progress!
