1.17.2019

Jim worked this morning pulling the last wire for the 240V line through the conduit and over to the junction box.  He got the light all put back together and working...

After that, it was time to do garage door work.  First step was to attach the new pull cable...

Then attach it to the pulley wheel...

Once he got the cable taut, he used a clamp to keep it that way while he moved over to work on the other side....

Once both sides were done, time to tighten the spring.  Thankfully, this job isn't the super dangerous one it used to be - now Jim can use his driver to turn the gear box, which coils the spring...

Trying to lift it - this is the first time that this garage door has ever been lifted!  Getting the spring at the right tension is important so you measure it by lifting the door halfway - if it's too tight, the door will try to lift up on its own; too loose and it will fall down.

Yay - a working garage door!

Jim had a piece of drywall that was almost the right size, so he put that up in the space underneath the  spring....

Then he had lots of clean-up work to do.  He had to take down the scaffolding and take it out to the barn for storage and then clean up all the tools and things that were in this bay.  It looks amazing!

At the end of the day, Jim headed to Home Depot to pick up a few supplies as well as his order of receptacle boxes so he can continue working electric.  But when he came home...he was able to pull in the garage!

We are beyond thrilled that both of the cars are now stored inside for the first time since we left Ohio!  Just in time - the snow forecast from the blizzard heading our way keeps going up - they now say 1-2' of snow with low temperatures in the double digit below zero range!
