4.11.2018

These are our new shower doors that Jim picked up last evening at Lowe's.  Can't wait to see how they will look!  So glad we were able to find all the parts and pieces that will make the shower come together.

I had errands to run this morning - including picking up ceiling paint (yay!) and our first couple bags of water softener salt.  I also stopped into Lowe's and Home Depot on a fact-finding mission about kitchen tile (so excited that we are even talking kitchen tile right now!!).  We have been using light almond receptacles in all of the rooms except the bathroom.  However, depending on the tile we choose, we may want to go with white.  So I was scoping out what kind of tile I think I want before Jim buys an expensive fan switch in the wrong color.  I have pretty much decided on small subway tile sheets (white) so we'll go that direction.  We can replace the other receptacles in the kitchen with white at some later date - after we move in!

After lunch, I headed to the property because we were going to tackle the second bedroom ceiling today.  All of the ceilings that we did and primed look amazing!  We are  thrilled with the way they came out!

However, Jim always figures out ways to make the project better and easier.  He thinned out the plaster mixture a bit more and made up 2 pails of it.  Then he came up with a way to keep the stomper fresh in a bit of plaster in the bottom of a pail.  He cut the lid in half, notched it, so that it didn't fall over!

Time to start rolling the plaster on!

Jim and I have a good system going.  He rolls the plaster on and then stomps the edges...

Then he edges....

Then I take over the stomping while he starts rolling the plaster on the next section.  The thinner plaster worked great - made all of the jobs easier.  Making great progress...

Time to start laying down the pattern...

Finishing up in the entry to the room...

The main entry way was the one area that Jim wasn't quite as happy with (but it looked great - no one else would have seen anything wrong with it!).  But the office went so well and much quicker than we anticipated, so we decided to redo it.  Starting to roll on the plaster...

All stomped and firming up...

Laying down the pattern...

Final pictures, even though the ceilings are still wet...the office...

And the entry...

We were absolutely thrilled with the way things went today - gave us confidence to keep pressing on!

At the end of the day, Jim did some more electric work before heading home.
