Jim worked in the control room this morning, continuing to go over the furnace system.
But the rest of the day was focused on the living room ceiling. Jim had lots to do to get ready. He had to clean out the living room of any extra supplies that would get in the way. Then he had to move the scaffolding from the master bedroom into the living room. Again, it's a slow process to insure that none of the freshly primed walls get dinged up by scaffolding! He mixed up more buckets of plaster and got all the tools ready.
So right after lunch, we were ready to start. Jim was very happy with the way it worked to put some plaster around the edges, so he started that.
Starting to roll the plaster on...
Doing the stomping along the edges...
Even though this is a big area, it helps that there aren't as many edges to worry about. Once we moved into the middle area, Jim only had to worry about the side edges.
Working off the scaffolding...
Starting on the last section...
The scaffolding sure makes this job doable but it's still never quite at the right height - it's either too high or too low. Jim did a lot of scrunching and bending to work on these tall edges. Plus you have to be very mindful of not only the platform edges but the ceiling so your head doesn't mess up the plaster!
Last section to plaster...
This was a bigger area than the master bedroom and we had to be very cognizant of the time so that we didn't wait too long to lay down the pattern.
Jim did most of this work off the ladder. I told him if I had to be up on the ladder, bending backwards to work over my head, it would be a disaster. Jim reminded me that he had a degree in advanced ladder skills - ha!
The best part of the day - looking up and seeing that it's all done and looks great! Whew! The tired crew cleaned up - lots of clean up work - and headed home.
