6.3.2016

Jim was all out of copper again, so he started the day by heading to the roofing company to pick up another roll.  He also stopped at the store where he ordered the sill.  It was supposed to be in awhile ago, but amazingly enough, the owner said it had just come in on the truck.  Whatever...we have it now and it's awfully pretty!

Jim spent the remainder of his morning working on flashing and drip edge.

The connection between the dormer roof and the smaller main roof section is very complicated and required Jim to design some very specialized flashing for this area.  This is tall step flashing that laps over the dormer roof, down the trim boards, and then gets incorporated into the roof with the shingles.

The next pieces all made...

Installing some of the flashing...

You can see a couple of the pieces of flashing are in place...

Jim's rolling his eyes that I'm taking pictures of more flashing but this is another piece of step flashing and the ridge flashing.

Installing...

Putting the ridge flashing on the peak...

Now Jim can continue putting shingles down over this area...

Almost to the top...

The very last corner piece of step flashing...

Now that the step flashing is finished, Jim puts the drip edge over the top.

This is a picture of the finished step flashing - beautiful!

Taking a water break and stretching his legs for a minute!

Now it's back to putting shingles on the dormer roof...

Jim's pictures at the end of the day...

Lots of progress - it's tedious to design and fit all that special flashing - requires many trips up and down.  But everything is looking great!
