6.14.2016

Today was all about putting shingles down on the dormer roof...

While the fact that this area is symmetrical with no valleys makes it easier, as opposed to the 7" exposure on the rest of the roof, the dormer roof has a 6" exposure to the shingles because it's not as steep.  So there are more rows of shingles to put up!

Jim had to take down his rope strap on top of the roof because it was in the way.  He cut a hole in the temporary covering over the ridge and looped his strap over one of the rafters.  But that means he's making great progress...

Now that Jim has so much of this roof section done, he's lost all his toe boards that helped keep tools and supplies up on the roof.  He can only put 3 shingles in a stack or else they start sliding down the roof.  So he spreads out little stacks in the row he's working on.

Getting close!

Jim had one more section of drip edge to put up...

The total finished product!

It's hard to get good pictures of this back roof section - Jim took these at the end of the day.

Looks beautiful!
