6.13.2016 - Rake trim all finished!

Thanks to a ton of work by Jim today (as always), a red letter day - all the rake trim work is done!  The only trim work left will be on the eaves.  While still difficult, at least it's horizontal and not quite so high!

Jim had to do a lot of prep work to get this first piece of Miratek on the rake.  To make sure everything will fit when the eave work is finished, he had to put up some temporary fascia pieces.  This was difficult because the scaffolding isn't exactly in the best position for that work.  But he got it done and the first piece up.

A lot of Jim's time today was spent at the brake making flashing.  Here he's making one of two pieces of drip edge he made today.

This is the very top piece of trim ready for its final fitting.

Jim is painting the exterior color on the middle piece of trim...

After lunch, the paint was dry and he was able to get the trim board outside.  Maneuvering these pieces around the corner is yet another challenge.

Putting the piece up in place...

I was coming down from the top of the hill and you can just barely see Jim working at the top!

Once the middle piece was in, Jim was able to get the precise measurements and cut the very top piece.  Putting it into place...

Then it was time for all the tall step flashing - the first piece is the most complicated.

Each of these pieces has to be measured and made to precise specs as he gets to them - so there is a lot of up and down work involved.

While Jim was making flashing, I got 4 more trim boards painted.

At the end of the day, Jim has this main roof section all complete.  Rake board trim done, all the flashing and all the shingles up to the ridge!  Looks beautiful and a huge block checked!
