Two days until concrete day...stressful but what a gorgeous day.  Since the first official day of fall was yesterday, it seems like the leaves started changing more almost overnight.

Jim spent a huge chunk of his time working on the beam pockets.  You can see how much work goes into each of these.

The beam pocket at the corner between garage doors - so a completely complex area!

Another beam pocket all done and shored.

These circles mark where Jim has to set big anchor bolts into the concrete that will later go into the landing for the staircase.  Again, all that advance planning to make sure things are right when you get to all the next steps.

At the end of the day, Jim had run out of plywood to finish up the last beam pocket so we cleaned up, organized the truck, and went off to Lowe's.  He also had to buy some PVC pipe - he's going to put another thimble in the wall.  We want to have an outdoor wood burning furnace eventually and he'll need a way to get heat in the basement.  More of that planning!

We hadn't heard anything more about our last brick delivery, so Jim called them today.  We don't really care when it comes, but we didn't want it showing up on Friday when there will be a parade of concrete trucks lining the driveway.  So it should come on Monday now, which will be fine.
