Yesterday, was an on/off drizzly, misty kind of day. Jim had to go to the barn to hunt for some things he has been looking for and it was just a work at home day. This morning, the fog was really dense but it burned off very quickly.
Today, though, we got back at it. Jim spent most of the morning fine-tuning some of the shoring as well as putting up a string and making sure the walls are totally straight and plum.
After lunch, we got busy on steel work. We had a good assembly line going - I would bring up 3 pieces of 5/8" rebar from the pile (one at a time, since I'm fairly wimpy) and mark two cuts on each of them using a piece that's the right length for a pattern. Then Jim would make the 6 cuts and we would take the pieces into the site. These are the vertical pieces that go all the way around - again, every 16" on some walls and down to 12" apart on the back and side walls.
Jim would put the steel in and tie them into place while I brought up more steel and the cycle continued.
As you can see, we got lots done - we really only have the right side wall to do, and a lot of those pieces are cut and ready to go - he has to put the horizontal steel in first. Then it will be smaller areas like the front areas around the doors.
When I was done moving steel, I started taping all the keys with the special Nudura tape so that no concrete gets in them when we are pouring. The left side and back walls are done now.
It was a beautiful day but it was in the low 80s and the humidity seemed higher - the sweat poured down your face faster than you could wipe it off!
But we had fun and it was another great day - everything looks amazing!
