Mom is doing great today after her surgery - no pain! - so we're very thankful for that.  She's pretty much supposed to stay off her foot until we see the doctor on Monday, so she's getting lots of tv and reading time in.

After doing some computer work this morning, Jim finished up by installing the first backing board for the baseboards in the kitchen area...

In the afternoon, Jim finished tweaking the last tenon...

Time to start carving the first mortise.  Jim did all the measurements and then put his jig into place so he would know exactly where to carve...

He's going to make a pigtail connection so that he can plug in directly from the meter box, but until then we have the generator to use!

Jim uses a combination of a few tools and techniques to bore out the hole - his big chisel first to go around the edges...

First mortise done and looks amazing!

Jim was able to get all his tools and equipment put away, trash down to the street, and back inside before a line of storms moved in.
