Jim put in his lean-to building supply order to Lowe's last night - it's supposed to be delivered Thursday!
Jim left early this morning and first picked up the U-Haul trailer before heading to Bobcat to pick up the auger.
Auger is all attached...
Remarking lines and location of holes...
Then starting to dig the first hole...
But it didn't take long for things to go slightly sour - of course, we would hit rocks. Jim had to get out the spud bar to try and move a rock. There was a giant one right at the bottom of the hole.
Using the post hole digger...
It is amazing to see how much dirt the auger brings up...

Resorting to diving headfirst into the hole to try and get the rock out...
Whew - finally!
Of course, by then the hole is huge. Jim doing some crumbing...
Time to do the next one...
This hole was no better - in fact, there were so many rocks that it started causing the first hole to cave in some. More hole diving...

This third hole seemed to go the best; however, the rocks that were there caused the auger to skip and dig in the wrong place.
Amazing all this dirt stays on the auger...
Starting to dig the last hole. This is the one that Jim was thinking would be an issue because it's so close to the concrete. He thought he might have to cut the concrete a bit.
But this one was picture perfect!
Unfortunately, Jim is going to have to do lots of handwork to get these holes in better shape. Can you find Mom sitting in the shade watching?
But first, he needed to get the equipment back. So he power sprayed the auger...
And started loading the attachment onto their pallet (which was in horrible shape!)...
Lifting the auger onto the pallet...
Then using the forks to load the pallet onto the trailer bed...
Taking everything back went fine, just takes time. He got back about 5:00 and is out there now putting things away and doing some work on the holes.
