A few showers were in the forecast but aside from a few drizzles, they never really materialized. However, it was still an inside work day.
Jim worked in the morning and got 2 more pieces of drywall up - the piece above and on the other side of the living room door. He still needs to finish attaching and cut out the door, but the hallway is looking good!
He also worked on finishing up insulation in the bathroom. He had another cavity to do as well as the complicated cavity area around the light and plumbing.
In the afternoon, we turned our attention to tile work. But first...oops...we (probably me) forgot to clean the invaluable giant stainless steel spoon after our last tile adventure. Jim was trying to chisel some of the dried Thinset off!
Mixing up another half bag of Thinset...
Jim pulled up all the tiles and then started putting down the Thinset...
Making good progress...
We were just one small row shy of having enough to finish the floor (but it looks finished!). We'll do that row the next time we mix for the tile in the laundry room. Everything came out great - we're thrilled with the way it looks.
We did the cleanup and while Jim had the power sprayer out, he gave the Tiger Cub a much-needed shower too.
We then transitioned to drywall. Jim first made and attached a piece of angle in the corner of the bathroom next to the shower stall.
Then we cut and marked the piece of drywall and Jim brought it in...
Getting it all fastened down...
Just a reminder of what this next section to be drywalled looks like. Jim had to measure for a light box, medicine cabinet, 2 outlets, 2 Pex tubes, and the drain plumbing - all in one piece!
Jim had to cut the drain plumbing and the Pex tubes before we could put it on...the rest he just started with small holes that he'll finish later.
This was a full piece so just getting it in the bathroom was a challenge.
But we did it - first time! We maneuvered the Pex tubes through the holes Jim cut and everything fit perfectly. Jim is cutting out the receptacle boxes...
Everything except the medicine cabinet is cut out and Jim is fastening it down. Whew - that's a big accomplishment!
