But if you're going to live in an area that gets over 2' of snow in one day, it's good that the town is equipped to handle the snow. Even during the blizzard yesterday, the sidewalk plows were working. Today, they brought out all the big equipment to get rid of the snow. This guy moves all the snow from the tree lawn area that has accumulated from the sidewalk plows and moves the snow into the street.
Then this truck comes along and scoops up all that snow and shoots it into a dump truck. They just continue clearing the whole street this way. Before long, everything is clear. In fact, we had to go over the mountain road this afternoon and the road was not only clear of snow, it was dry! Crazy.
Jim had to help me take my big mailing to the post office this morning (even the post offices were all closed here yesterday). After that, he headed out to the property.
Of course, his first task was plowing the driveway again. Another 4" or so had fallen since his last plowing yesterday. But 4 inches was nothing compared to 2 feet!
Jim had called the building inspector this morning to see if he needed to reschedule his visit because of the storm, but Jerry said he would be out as planned. He hadn't been to the property since we had done any apartment walls, so there was lots for him to see! His first words when he walked into the apartment were..."Wow, nice." High praise coming from him! He liked the way Jim was doing the insulation and gave Jim the okay to press on with that. They talked venting - Jerry said Jim could get away with even less venting than Jim was thinking about, but he liked Jim's plan. Then they talked code requirements for smoke detectors - we only have to have 3 in the apartment (1 in each bedroom and one outside of the bedroom area), 1 in the wood shop and 1 in the metal shop. However, Jim is going to put one in the stairwell too. So, once again, an inspection with not a word of any issues and just permission to keep moving along! Very, very happy news!
More happy news - Jim had an eye doctor appointment for a full battery of tests checking that the eye drop is continuing to work on keeping his pressure in a good range. Everything was stable, no changes, just has to go back in 6 months for another pressure check.
So...lots to celebrate tonight, including our 17-year anniversary of getting married in the Catholic Church!
