7.16.2016

Unfortunately, Jim had a slight kidney stone flare up this morning and just wasn't feeling great.  But thankfully, it never progressed any farther than that and after awhile, he felt fine.  Of course, you're kind of waiting for something to happen at that point!

So it was a little later start to the day.  Plus, the weather forecast had some showers as a possibility so we were trying to make a wise decision based on all the factors.

Jim worked on getting things ready - he got the next course figured out for the front and got things marked and more ties put on.

We finally decided to go ahead so here comes the first batch of mortar.

Working on the front...

Going up the first step in the front...

Then Jim worked on the other side...

...before going around back.

Jointing the front...

After a late lunch, it was time to prep for the next batch.  Here Jim is using the level that Kyle & Julia got him to mark the next course.

Bringing up more bricks - we have now gone through 5 cubes or 1000 bricks!  That's pretty amazing!

Even though it was later than normal, we decided to press on with another batch.

Jim started on the side...this is the last full course of bricks on this side!  Jim still has to figure out how he wants to do the very top course under the eaves.

Working around to the front...

...and using the rest of the mortar in the back.

Jointing...

Back of the building at the end of the day...

Then it was time to cover everything just in case.

And always...time to clean up.

This day was a real victory - in the morning, we weren't sure if we would be able to do anything.  But it all worked out and we had a great day!
