7.18.2016

First, an explanation.  Jim and I are very private people and so putting some of this personal information in the blog is a bit hard for us.  However, when we started this, we wanted the blog to be a digital diary of this journey.  The day-to-day struggles and accomplishments are important for us to note and celebrate.  This journey is more than just building - life and its issues (both good and bad) interfere and take time away both physically and mentally from the tasks at hand.  It would be much easier if time could stand still while we finish without any interruptions.  Since that's not possible, it's valuable for us to be able to look back on what was happening in our life while this project was taking place.

So with that in mind, Jim had a little bit of a rough night last night with his kidney stone issues.  Thankfully, today was the urologist appointment.  He's now scheduled for a CT scan on Wednesday to see what's happening.  She discussed options but needs to have all the information first.  So we're happy to be moving forward to a solution!

After the appointment, we went to Lowe's and picked up more bags of mortar mix.  The forecast called for rain in the afternoon, so Jim just planned on doing other tasks besides brickwork.  He headed out to the property after lunch.

He finished the welding on the stairwell landing and got things pretty much ready to go for concrete.  He also did lots of prep work to get ready for brickwork tomorrow - lots of brick cutting, marking and putting up ties.  At the end of the afternoon, he even cut the grass.

Hopefully we'll be back to bricking tomorrow!
