He made some experimental pieces of flashing out of the aluminum - he'll use these as templates for making them in copper. Certainly don't want to waste any copper!
This piece will go on the valley of the overhang we just made...
...and this is the template for the valley flashing for the main gable.
Jim also made the mounting fixtures and hung up two florescent light fixtures in the woodworking shop.
You can see that he first made a wood mounting block and then used the steel clips he made to connect the fixture. This way, the fixture is away from the ceiling and under the plane of the trusses to make it easier when Jim runs conduit for the electric wire.
He also worked on his design for the stair stringers. This is out of the really heavy gauge steel.
Jim was happy with the fit - he made the stringer for the other side too. Now he has to figure out how much steel he needs to make angles for the treads. Then he'll have to order the steel. But the design is good and he can proceed onward!
