Then it was time to take down the scaffolding...but first, a reminder of the crazy set up that Jim had to use to work on this side. The scaffolding is sitting on planks - not quite as solid and stable as you would like but necessary here.
This side looks SO good with the scaffolding down and shingles started!
Jim was able to use the Bobcat to transport the scaffolding we'll need on the west side.
Setting up the scaffolding on the other side...have to be a little careful of the big slope.
We loaded up 4 bundles of shingles on a pallet which Jim lifted in the air with the Bobcat so he doesn't have to carry them up. Plus, standing on the pallet will allow him to reach the corner.
First step is marking where the steel rafters are so that he doesn't hit them with his nail gun.
Then he measured the top line for the starter row and marked it with a chalk line.
Putting the first shingle down for the starter row. Jim found the middle and works out from there for symmetry.
Working on the first course...
Continuing on...
The afternoon brought a few more clouds and wind so it was a bit chilly as the day wore on - but better than too hot for roof work!
