Jim did some more steel work on the overhang - this is a close-up view of the little hip he made. Check out the connections...everything is picture perfect!
A step back shows that Jim also put the fascia backing on the front side and made sure the corner connections all worked well.
In order to get ready for the sheathing on this corner, Jim had to put up a mounting board on the roof to make for a better connection.
This was a complicated piece of sheathing...it was basically a parallelogram. Jim drew out the dimensions and double-checked to make sure it would fit.
Then he had to make all the cuts...
Before he could attach the sheathing, he put up the angle to tie all the ends together...
Carrying up the sheathing...
It was a perfect fit so time to fasten it down.
In order for Jim to reach the top of the overhang, he had to add another section of scaffolding. But the overhang was now in the way, so he moved the tower across the front and then put the next section on top.
Finishing up the screws to attach the sheathing...
Figuring out the drip edge...
The next step was to put underlayment on this overhang section. However, the sun was out and it wasn't the perfect time to put sticky membrane down. So we switched gears and did some grading. Jim wanted to use the top soil he had scraped off while doing driveway grading and use it to put over the original driveway going up the hill.
Jim would dump the dirt and I picked out all the rocks - so instead of an Easter egg hunt, it was more of a rock hunt! I piled the rocks into the wheelbarrow and we took them down to the rock pile.
The pile is now gone and Jim is just doing a little flattening. We want to get some grass seed spread soon just to keep erosion and weeds down.
Just getting that pile of dirt moved makes the yard look so much better! We figure if we do a little bit of yard work as we can, it won't be quite so daunting!
Once the sun went down a bit, we cut some membrane and Jim attached it.
Putting membrane over the valley area...
There will still be some membrane work to do but it was getting late and time to head for home!
