Jim started the day by heading to the cold-formed steel place to pick up the couple pieces of steel that he ordered as a trial for beginning the stairs. This is the heaviest steel we've used yet - 10 gauge. Can't even imagine stairs - lots of exciting milestones on the way!
After he got back, Jim had lots more cutting to do in order to finish off all the top pieces - but this side is done!!
After the shingles were finished, Jim worked on the fascia backing steel. Since the auto bay roof was the first section he built, Jim has since improved the way he built the end of the rafters. On the auto bay, he had put the bottom tail section on but not the front clip angle (as in the picture below). This meant that he had to add clip angles to each of the rafters but he also took off the bottoms and will add them after he attaches the fascia backing to get a perfect fit.
A view from the woods at the end of the day...
It was a shortened day because of church in the evening but everything sure looks amazing!
