1.23.2016

While we were very thankful to be avoiding all the blizzard activity hitting so much of the country, it was mighty cold today!  When it temperatures start off in low single digits, even by the time Jim heads out at 10:00 or 10:30, all the steel, tools and concrete are just frozen.  Really tough to work like that.  But Jim presses on.

He was able to take down the front brace over the door opening this morning so no more ducking under that to get inside.  Then he started working on the front side of the stairwell to make the window frame.  We have a very cool porthole window to go in this space to bring some light into the stairwell as well as to let us be able to see out the front.  So he made the bottom frame as well as put the first stud in place.

Doing more steel fab...

Putting up the top frame for the window...

Getting it all fastened down...

Putting more studs in the bottom to support the studs that will be on top for the window support.

The track goes on top...

...and then the stud next to the window go next.

At this point, it was getting late because we decided to go to church in the evening since it was so cold.  Plus, Jim is out of the steel he needs to finish up the studs around the window.  His next big steel order goes in Monday and will include those pieces.

So...in the time remaining, it was back to scaffolding work.  This tower has served its purpose and it's time to take it down so we can move on to other jobs in this area.
