After lunch we started to work on building our last wall! Before we could get started, we had to do a little cleanup. It is really tight quarters here to just build the wall, let alone have room to flip it over. We had to move the scaffolding we had stacked in this area as well as get all the leaves off the deck in the work area. I scraped the caulk off from the edge of the wall that we had put on in hopes of preventing water from escaping below. Jim is doing some measurements and then we chalked the wall shape on the deck.
Then Jim brought the track pieces up and we started laying it out.
Bringing up the first double stud pieces...
...and fastening them together.
Then putting the stud into place...
Then the next double stud was made, fastened together and put into place.
Then we flipped the wall over - again, not an easy task now. Jim got the blocks in place for us to use when we stand the wall up.
Fastening the other side once the wall was flipped.
There were a couple screws poking through from when we were working on the auto bay structure, so Jim had to get the grinder out to make sure we had a flat wall surface.
And it's up - the first section of our last wall!
Perfect, of course!
Unfortunately, Jim forgot to punch holes in the bottom track before we assembled, so he had to get his drill out and do it the harder way.
Looking great!
The view from down below...sure looks tall. Makes my stomach hurt to think about how we are going to put sheathing on that wall!
