Jim worked this morning on putting more screws in the principle rafter - by the time we are done, these valley rafters will have well over 200 screws each!
He also put up another brace on the back apartment wall to help support the force of the valley rafters on the structure.
Since we had brought up the steel rafter pieces at the end of the day yesterday, Jim was able to start cutting. The first piece we worked on was the track that attaches to the flat side of the channel piece.
Again, no pictures since this project definitely requires all hands on deck, but we managed to get the track into place. Jim is fastening it down at the end...
...and the top.
Then he put the next clip angle at the bottom for the next piece of channel that will make up this rafter set.
Time to cut the next rafter...
Jim has to bend the steel to make the flange where it will connect to the existing rafter at the top.
This rafter was a little tougher to get in the right position, but we eventually got it! Jim is fastening it down...
Making all the connections at the bottom...
Jim used the remaining daylight hours to start working on all the screws to connect this rafter together.
We are beyond thrilled that these rafters are up - this is a huge accomplishment for us!
