He then got busy doing some rafter work - he got a double rafter in as well as two other rafters. He put the top piece of steel on the track just to hold things in the right position until we get our steel delivery and can put the rafters on top.
Then he started working on the window frame - here he's marking locations.
Putting up the first piece of the frame...
Although Jim said that structurally speaking he wouldn't need to put a header on top of this window, he went ahead and made it. He can't quite finish it off until the rest of the steel comes - hopefully tomorrow morning!
Jim wanted a brace on this wall section so that was the next step...
Gotta love those perfectly straight walls!
Jim finished fastening the two wall sections together to form the double stud in the center of the wall.
Then he did some fastening of the sheathing to the wall. He didn't want to do all of the screws just yet until the rest of the wall is built but it's now more secure.
The last building project of the day was to take down the bracing from the first gable wall that enabled Jim to put up the ridge beam and recreate it on the front wall. This ridge beam will go from the front wall to the connection of the two valley rafters.
At the end of the day, we took the truck and headed out to the storage unit. We basically got everything loaded up except for our pool table - we need some help with that. We didn't have time to unload the truck - we'll do that tomorrow. We're happy that we're almost out of another storage unit!
