It was in the 80s today but they are calling for maybe some showers tomorrow so Jim decided we should go ahead and pour the concrete today. We waited until about 4:30 in the afternoon though so it would be a little cooler.
Of course, Jim had everything ready. It certainly isn't as easy as it sounds - between connecting up the pumpkin to the Bobcat, to assembling all the tools, hooking up the water and the generator...it takes a long time.
This pour had to be different since it was up high. So Jim mixed up the concrete, dumped it in the mortar box and then I shoveled the concrete into 5-gallon pails. Jim carried the pails up the ladder and dumped the concrete in.
This pour took 6 bags again - we stopped and vibrated once in the middle to make sure it was all compacted.
Getting it all flat and finished...
We are still struggling trying to find the right brick for the foundation - that's what we wanted to use for the fascia for the pedestal. We are going back to the block place tomorrow and see what they have.
