I had a doctor appointment this morning; Mom came along and then we ran some errands afterwards. Jim spent the morning working on his permit drawing package and is also starting a new woodworking project for down times - the base cabinet for the wood shop bathroom. He got some wood started...
We were so fortunate with the weather last night - the forecast was pretty scary with strong winds, hail, downpours and even a rare tornado predicted. However, none of that happened on Angel - we had some nice rain that we sorely needed and no other issues. The first rain we had a couple days ago though did wash a bit of the grass seed away in the area right next to the pole barn stone wall. Jim used the Bobcat this afternoon to back drag the area a bit...
Jim got it raked - we'll put more grass seed down in a day or so. It's still very windy so we didn't want it to blow away!
After that, we headed down to edge of the woods on the side of the driveway to do some cleanup - Jim was cutting down some fallen trees...
Then it was time to tackle the broken limbs from the spring snowstorm. In order to reach them, Jim had to bring the Bobcat close to the tree and then he climbed into the bucket...
Then he climbed into the tree with his chainsaw! Mom and I nervously watched from below.
But he was able to cut the two giant branches as well as some smaller ones...
Then he had to yank the branches down...
Dragging them out of the way...
Jim cut up the bigger portions into logs and we piled up the branches for chipping later...
There were some dead trees that had fallen over the years that Jim wanted to push down with the Bobcat. If you look above the Bobcat into the first Y of the tree, you'll see part of a broken tree that got stuck there on its way down...
Jim was able to get that moved and then push down the other dead tree - it's falling in this picture...
Then he cut the fallen trunks into logs that we stacked in our pile...
This area looks so much cleaner now...
Jim did some grass cutting before calling it a day.
