Jim was busy in the drawer factory all day. He put the final coat of polyurethane on the cherry drawer pieces...
He put the rabbet cuts on the maple drawer fronts...
And then started doing the dovetail work...
He rolled contact cement on the Formica for the drawer bottoms...
Then carefully placed on the bottom...
Jim also started working on the finger pulls for the drawers. Doing the initial cuts on the bandsaw...
Then using the drum sander to smooth them out...
All done!
Jim wanted to get a coat of polyurethane on the drawer bottom that doesn't have Formica as well as the backs of the drawers. He had to carefully tape off the dovetail joints so that he's able to glue them together properly.
Done!
Jim also stopped in the middle of the day to take me to the printer to pick up some fire school flyers - there was a warning out for frozen surfaces because it warmed up and snowed a bit, but the roads were fine - they take very good care of them here. However, it was nice to be chauffeured!
