Hope everyone had a safe and very Happy Thanksgiving! We tucked our phones away, didn't turn on the computer, and just enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing holiday. Kyle and Lauren came up on Thursday and ate turkey dinner with us. We spent time on the property and walked around downtown Saratoga on Friday before they left Saturday morning to head back to the city.
Lauren's dog, Ruby, spent the holiday with us as well!
After they left, Jim headed back into the workshop, putting together the sister drawer cabinet...
The shell of this cabinet is all put together. It's just going to stay in the workshop for now - Jim plans to work on the left side cabinetry next.
In preparation for next steps, Jim prepped and glued some maple pieces together for drawer fronts...
More glueing...
Jim had bought cherry wood decades ago and moved it here from Ohio. He used it to make the drawer pieces in Ohio and is going to do the same thing here. Here he's planing a thick piece of rough-sawn cherry...
He resawed these pieces - basically split them in half - when you open them, the grain matches which is so pretty...
Off to church!
